In nearby Brasstown, a national resource for traditional
music, dance, crafts and folklore. The entire Folk School is listed on the
National Register of Historic Place. Free concerts most Friday nights, contra
and square dances twice monthly. Tour the campus, look in on classes in
progress, browse in the extensive crafts shop and visit the History Center.
Located 18 miles west of Murphy on NC 294. Bible Theme Park

Enjoy fishing, swimming, skiing and boating on this public
access lake with 163 miles of shoreline and several marinas.
The Read Marble Gap Excursion departs from Andrews in the
summer months. Climb one of the highest railroad grades in Eastern America, then
enjoy a one-hour layover in the Nantahala Gorge.
Mountains surpassing 5000 feet, cascading waterfalls, towering hardwood forests and whitewater foaming over the backs of boulders--these are the sights awaiting you in the Nantahala National Forest. Enjoy the panoramic views from Whiteside Mountain or Wayah Bald. A 2-mile loop trail to the top of the Whiteside cliffs, provides a spectacular view. Wayah Bald is especially beautiful in June when the azaleas and laurel bloom. Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, with it's 400-year old trees, is another breathtaking sight.
Nantahala Forest Loop - This loop travels through three of the most scenic counties in Western North Carolina and includes the flora, fauna and cascading waters of the Nantahala Forest.
This loop crosses part of the original route taken by the Cherokee during their removal from this area in 1838.
Cherokee County Historical Museum
Located in downtown Murphy next to the Historical Cherokee County Courthouse on Peachtree Street. Enjoy history that reflects the life of the Cherokee Indians and the early pioneers.
Cherokee Lake
Located west of Murphy on NC 294, enjoy fishing and picnicking, at this handicapped-accessible facility.

Cherohala Skyway Loop
The loop crosses through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests connecting Tellico Plains, TN and Robbinsville, NC. It begins and ends in Cherokee County.
